The Spur is not what it used to be...Texas Roadhouse is similar to how the Spur used to be 15 years back...as is Outback (an Aussie themed Spur), Salt Grass and Longhorn..

SA steak is better than US steak, @1/4 the price ...US spareribs is fantastic, best I ever had ..the Yanks can't do proper calamari, but the volume of choice here is insane...if you can think about it, you can find it here...most things are surprisingly cheap...
The people here are inherently good...all the people...black, brown white and yellow...even the higher crime areas is ridiculously safe compared to SA...Cape Town has changed a lot during the last 10 years... the press and politicians will tell you differently, but I know what I've seen over the past few years...

There's nothing that matches the natural beauty of South Africa, with it's bio diversity...people included, but the absolute lawlessness and corruption has made it a distopian nightmare for everyone except the wealthy...sure there are a few safe enclaves, but that's true of Mad Max world too...will miss my Boland forever, but I'm grateful to be gone... witnessing the decay made me bitter...will take a long time to get it out of my system...if ever, but that's just the way things are...
