Hilarious moment in the US Open….Alcaraz was being interviewed and asked what he thought of playing Shelton or Tsitsipas. He said ‘no I’m playing Medvedev or Tiafoe’. So the interviewer showed him the bracket and he said ‘oh my god, I am playing Shelton or Tsitsipas’. And then everybody broke out laughing and the crowd outside who could see the screen roared with laughter. Enjoyable moment in today’s scripted world

It is funny that he did not know who his next oppo/nent in the Quarterfinals is.

Did you notice something I wrote earlier about a potential final between Alcaraz and Blockx The chances are 25% that fibal may materialize, Blockx will have to play Khachanov in the quarers and Zvrrerev in the semi while Alcaraz will have to play Shelton in the quarters and Tiafoe or Michelsen in the semi.

The Shelton match has an old school appeal…..the biggest server in the game vs the best ground stroker. Normally Alcaraz would be a shoo-in, but his layoff and readiness to play a long match creates a small chance for Shelton.

You were right the match ended up in a tiebreaker in the 5th set. I think the four month absence in the end counted against Alcaraz in the end, There are at least 2 ATP1000 tournaments this year and a string of ATP500 matches, Alcaraz recovery will be a huge factor in those matches,
