Jesse Kriel and Kolbe's broken jaw

Well, that last pic of Kolbe's body positioning in tackling Jacobson is the biggest culprit for his broken jaw, i would say.

@Mpower easy to say. Jacobson has at least 20kg and a foot in length on Kolbe, plus he changed his running line just enough so Kolbe had to try to adjust to a different angle on the tackle. Put Jacobson two feet to the left where he would have been if he held his line after beating Jesse and Kolbe is in a good position, but the change in running angle got him. It's a split second thing.

Not sure what the ratings has to do with this incident. It was a poor regulation miss that put Kolbe in a difficult spot having to tackle a much larger player at pace front on. Kolbe's head ended up on the wrong side as Jacobson changed his running line slightly to his right before contact.

@Pakie ...I like your assessments... it's a gift to break things down the way you do...it just seems that you focus more on the things that go wrong sometimes...the best way to improve is to figure out what exactly is wrong so it can be fixed...I have noticed that you've also started to give some credit where it's due...I would like it if you could do a bit more of that... it's just as important as figuring out what went wrong...

@DbDraad just pointing stuff out as I notice it. May come across as negative sometimes but take it from where it comes - a couch commentator and yes, I do have my own biases like anyone although I try to put them aside as much as possible. But it's not really honest to gloss over errors just because you don't want to come across as negative or biased. It's all part of the game and all players make mistakes, everyone can decide for themselves how much significance they want to attach to it. I'm not trying to be "right", just opening up some conversation pieces.

@Mozart not sure if people realize this was a try saver from Kolbe. There was no one else between Jacobson and the tryline.

It's as Eben said on Big Jim's pod, "To play for the Boks you have to be prepared to put your body on the line."

You will never see Kolbe, Arendse or Edwil chicken out or try to hug anybody. They'll dive head first into the spokes of the devil's pennyfarthing without hesitation.
