Okay, i got on Codex this morning and thought i would try to make a coaches board so we can convince the Paks to make his YT channel.

The results are superb thus far. Even if Paks chickens out, perhaps, since this is browser based, Ed can put in on the site for us to mess around with.

This is how the interface looks

image

What you can do:

  1. Move players around to any position you like
  2. Select any player and then pick a spot on the board - once you click play they will move there
  3. Select any palyer you like and you have three kick options -Grubber, Chip or Uppie - Once you click play the kick is animated and shows the ball travelling to that position. Grubbers travel along the ground and chips and uppie travel higher.
  4. The player you select to kick the ball can also be marked to chase the ball. So once you click play he can pretty much do anything any of the other players can do.
  5. You can indicate directions/routes
  6. You can indicate space(yellow dotted line
  7. You can change team colours.

When balls are kicked or passed and you click player, the player movement to the destination and ball travelling are all animated as shown below.

Here is a series of images showing it in action...

What do you guys think?

sorry for the poor quality images.

But ja, you basically put all the info in, select where you want each player to move, and if you want the ball to be kicked as well as the destination of the kick, and then you click play and the whole things is animated and everything plays out based on your directions.

Any ideas you guys have i can incorporate quite easily, so lets see what we can end up with.

This might be a very fun addition.

I now added passing and travel times to destinations as well as at that point during the travel time the ball is passed to the next player...

okay, now i have added a PNG screenshot function, so once you have everybody in position you can screenshot it, then you can click "play", let it play out, and then screenshot again to show where everybody ends up.

And the screenshots already have a white margin around them and in high res so perfect for uploading to the forum.

here is a sample...

okay, i am having good fun with this.

I have now made it sow you choose the exact moment of the pass by simply clicking on the players movement direction arrow instead of having to enter times manually.

The blue dots indicate exactly when the ball will be passed.

Okay, it all works perfectly at this point.

Now, those that are interested can make some suggestions and I'll add them in.

Also, final screenie for the day...with more apt jersey colours...showing Wiese abusing the entire Kiwi backline on his way to dotting down under the posts.

Plumpster your are amazing. I suggest you market this to rugby You Tubers etc.
What you must not do is allow Pakster anywhere near the invention. It will send him over the edge. 😂😂😂

Very impressive, Plummie. As ever, time is the enemy. Spring is in the air (with summer apparently eager to leapfrog it) and I'm spending far too much time in front of the PC. Long hours in the outdoors is calling. But it looks like a delicious toy.

Yeah, I'm gonna finish it off and then see if Ed doesn't want to add it to the board for us.

That way it's lekker easy to show what one is talking about and screenshot into a post.

...or if ever Pakster wants to do his TY channel

okay...added a bunch of features.

You can now select any international team and it will automatically load its colours...oh, and URC and Top 14 teams too ;)

You can select from a range of set-piece options.-top scrum, middle scrum and bottom scrum...same with full and short lineouts.

You can save playbacks as PNG or Gifs...pretty cool

You can create plays that involve both passing and kicking in the same sequence - like passing to a winger who then grubbers.

Very impressive Plum….pity we didn’t have this tool to track the Dud Allende’s honor guard run alongside Mo’unga in the WC final

@Mozart lol you will soon be able to re-create that exact play, Moz. The project has progressed. Was having too much fun to stop when I should have, so ended up spending the day building it.

Project Coach’s Board has made significant progress, with several new features now added:

  1. Player movement and run paths
You can draw each player’s run directly on the field. When you press Play, the player follows the selected path.

image

  1. Playback and time controls
A new timeline slider gives you complete control over the play:

    • Move the slider forward to advance the play.
    • Stop moving it to pause the action.
    • Move it backwards to rewind the play.

This allows you to review every stage of a play at your own pace.

  2. Passing points
You can choose exactly when each player should pass the ball during their run. These passing points are shown as blue dots on the players’ run lines.

image

  1. Kicking options
Any player who receives a pass can kick the ball to a chosen destination. Available kick types include:

    • Grubber
    • Chip
    • Up-and-under (“uppie”)

This means the ball can move through a passing sequence before the receiving player kicks it.

image

  1. Set-piece positioning
A lateral positioning slider has been added for set pieces. Scrums and lineouts can be placed at the top, middle or bottom of the field, as well as at any lateral position.

image

  1. Ruck, tackle and maul markers
Markers can be placed on the field to show where rucks, tackles and mauls occur during a play.

image

  1. Player names
Players can now be given names, which are displayed beside their icons on the field.

image

  1. Zoom controls
There are three zoom levels available: near, medium and far. This makes it easier to focus on a specific part of the play or view the full-field setup.

image

image

image

  1. Saving plays and configurations
Specific plays and field configurations can now be saved for future use.

There are a good few more features but they're not working properly yet.

I figure when this is done i could probably hand over to Ed if they want it and they can host it here in Ruckers as it is browser-based, so it should be easy to implement.

Yes, Moz, we can for sure re-create DDA's escorting exploits in the WC final.

Why?

Because a) we can draw each player's run path as needed and b) each player's run speed can be individually adjusted. We can literally set the location and destination of all 30 players ont he field as well as the speed at which each player travels. Damn cool!

So, yeah, we can fully recreate it exactly as it happened.

Unfortunately, when i did the screen record, the recording did not capture the menus so the mouse looks a bit confused at times clicking on things that arent there.
