Player ratings are mostly rubbish, one pundit wanted to give Manie an 8. And a Board member actually wanted to make the MOM a player who missed tackles for 2 of today’s AB tries. So here’s another way of making judgements…the best combined team so far.

McKenzie
Jordan
Tupaea
Barrett
Kolbe
Love
Roigard
Ox
Marx
Wilco
Eben
Nortje
Vaa’i
Savea
Wiese

A bit of juggling in the loosie positions. But the most impactful players have been chosen. Close calls are between Willemse and McKenzie……Love and Sacha…..Wilco and Thomas and that’s about it.

Where was PSDT today, again?

He is a spent force at this point.

I cannot see how the Boks would be worse off staring the much stronger and more mobile Hanekom.

I seriously hope we get to see Hanekom and AE starting.

Then again, DDA scored a try, so that'll probably see him to 150 caps 🙄

@Mozart Steph is more secure when the Boks can keep the attackers in front of them, and he is tightly supported on both sides. His mobile is like a giraffe on ice. He could mitigate this with his reading of play, but he is much like Damian in that he struggles to really see the game. He had more useful moments than usual today, but he was often skinned on defence. His carries are solid for setting up the next phase for little gain.

Steph was never a speed merchant, but I believe he is too slow now for 7. You see him covering wide, but he can't get to anyone, sometimes 3 of 4 yards behind the pace - one extra yard of pace would have had him stopping Moorby's try last week. The question about his shoulder strength and/or mobility is a valid concern - against England already this year I pointed out that his reaction time and security in the tackle seemed off.
