I still think we read far too much into these U20 teams. Of course, it's a decent gauge of where our laaitjies are. To me, their performances against these under strength U20 sides, that have far fewer players to pick from, must always be taken with pinch of salt.
In particular, one needs to withhold judgement on the forwards until we see how they get on in the big leagues.
As mentioned on a different thread, Batho is a prime example. Watching him at U20 you'd think he was King Kong. But then he was pretty average this year apart from one, maybe two, appearances.
That's not to say that he won't continue to improve and perhaps crack the nod for the Boks one day. More that it's kinda pointless getting hyped because the majority of these guys will fade into obscurity, some will turn pro, and a very small amount will actually take the step up higher. And all of that will take time. We'll talk about them now, but it'll be a few seasons before we have solid evidence. EG how many of last year's U20s did we talk about or notice this year during URC? The answer is very few.

Saying all that, I do like Ahmed. He seems crafty but also solid upstairs. Looks like he can teach Manie a thing or two about having a metronomic kicking technique. Hopefully the Bulls or Lions get him.
