Chris Rossouw, former Bulls assistant coach, has landed a pivotal role at Paarl Gymnasium, a prestigious rugby school in the Western Cape. As of Friday, the institution announced the 49-year-old's appointments as technical adviser and high-performance coach.
Rossouw will be collaborating closely with Dawie Theron, the head of rugby, as well as the rugby management and coaching staff. His appointment is seen as a significant addition to Paarl Gymnasium's rugby strategy, aiming to enhance both player development and team performance.
Gimmies issued a statement expressing enthusiasm about Rossouw's new role:
"Chris brings a unique combination of experience, knowledge and a deep commitment to Paarl Gymnasium to this role,"the school’s statement highlighted.
Rossouw’s coaching résumé is impressive, with a stint at the Bulls beginning in 2019, where he was integral as a backline and attack coach under Jake White. During his tenure, he celebrated a Super Rugby Unlocked title in 2020, secured two Currie Cup victories, and saw his team through to three URC finals. His journey with the Bulls came to an end in December 2025.
There's also a familial link to rugby excellence in the Rossouw family; Chris is the younger brother of Pieter Rossouw, a former Springbok winger and the current coach of Gimmies’ 1st XV team.
This coaching shift marks a significant transition for Rossouw and Paarl Gymnasium as they look forward to building a robust rugby program that promises great future prospects.
