Mfundo Ndhlovu, formerly a star with the Blitzboks, has swiftly made his mark in the 15-a-side format with the Stormers XXIII. Making an impressive debut in the Currie Cup where he scored against the reigning champions Griquas, Ndhlovu has secured his spot on the team, starting in the last four matches.
This dynamic winger is slated to dazzle once more in the upcoming game against the Pumas in Nelspruit on Saturday. Eager about his new role, Ndhlovu expressed his enthusiasm for his career shift.

The transition appears seamless for Ndhlovu who has found a robust connection with fullback Dylan Miller. Their on-field chemistry is palpable, creating a formidable backline for the Stormers.
"Whoever plays, we’re always in sync and connected. Dylan is very talented and makes my job so much easier. I try to do the same for him, and we support each other and communicate,"Ndhlovu remarked.
Last week’s game saw Ndhlovu making significant contributions with several strong carries against the Cheetahs. He remains positive about his performance and the support from the coaching staff.
"Having the backing of the coaches helps me to go out there and express myself,"he shared.
The gold medalist from the 2022 Commonwealth Games, Ndhlovu, now fully focuses on his future in the traditional 15s game. He is keen on leveraging this chance with the Stormers to craft something memorable.
"I’m now at the Stormers, and I’m relishing the opportunity. I’m hoping for more opportunities to play, build something special and then let the pieces fall where they may,"he added.
Regarding the adaptation to the Stormers' style of play which emphasizes a strategic attacking and kicking game, Ndhlovu finds his sevens background an asset.
"I feel like sevens has helped me with the transition. I’ve moved into a team environment where those skill sets are used and utilized in different ways. Adapting has been easy because we have coaches who help us. They’re always in my ear, giving me advice, and that has really accelerated my transition into 15s,"he explained.
With Ndhlovu’s impressive career repositioning, the Stormers look optimistic about their upcoming challenges, showcasing a promising blend of experience and new talents on the field.
