I’m very excited to stop this kind of aggressive debt-collecting with one of my favorite out-of-print novels, “Brother of the More Famous Jack,” by the South African writer Barbara Trapido. I will be able to freely loan it again because the book has just been reissued. It’s about a London college student who becomes entangled in the chaotic and hilarious family of her philosophy professor. In an essay about the book in The New Yorker, the writer Sam Knight correctly describes it: “Like other perfect but not extremely famous novels, it has mostly been passed from people who adore it to people who have never heard of it.”
Now you’re one of the ones who’s heard of it. Get a copy, read it and lend it freely
