The real reason why Cameron Hannekom was dropped

So Rassie gave some reason why Cam Hannekom was dropped and to be honest with you. This doesn't sit well with me.

It looks like we are going to be stuck with Van Staden for the foreseeable future. I don't rate him at all. He was okay, bit harder than Kolisi and didn't mind getting over the ball. Yet, the reasoning for dropping Cam when you know the game is going to be fast, no direct play from Australia and like NZ, will look to move the ball around and looking to speed up the break down.

But Rassie ultimate excuse was that Cam doesn't have enough experience and that he will opt to go for a player that never plays 8 for a player that is on fire and give you everything and more. Hybrid between Vermeulen and Spies. Has the pace of Spies, good hands and fantastic over the ball like Vermeulen and incredible strength in contact. He had the most influential game against Argentina and probably the sole reason why we won that game.

Rassie other excuse is that he will use him in the end of the year. Why on earth not just pick him. He can shift into any position in the back row.

Rassie is successful but sometimes I questions his decision to persist with a certain type of player.

We also now hear that he wants to put Paul De Villiers and 12, why not Roos who is ideal for a hybrid role and if that is what he wants.

"Ek dink Mozart gaan haal die bobbejaan agter die bult." Why would anyone in his right mind just throw excellent players like Cameron Hanekom and Paul de Villiers to the side??

Especially because of their excellent form. If this is really true, then Rassie Erasmus is the biggest "poephol" in the world.

Rassie still has all these old bodies in the squad, with Mostert, Lood, Fourie, and Van Staden around, so he has to make rotational switches somewhere. It's not that Hanekom and De Villiers are finished, it's that Tassie is managing the older players through the season, until their contracts are done.

He says Hanekom isn't experienced enough, but then why does Johan Ackermann always start Hanekom before Van Staden at the Bulls? Week in and week out. I agree that Hanekom started against Argentina, a stronger side than Australia in my opinion, and was probably the sole reason we won that game.

Rassie has a pattern of favouritism, and he's dragged too many old players with him since 2018 instead of shedding them. Let's hope that this is the last we see of older guys like Fourie, Mostert, Lood and Eskom. Let them finish in style this season, and then be done with them.

Eskom can apparently play hooker too...weak excuse IMO.
