No matter who the next occupants might be, the White House no longer represents global leadership. It stands as a symbol of incompetence and ignorance on a massive scale, economic stupidity, the betrayal of allies, a totally unjustified war, and a financial refuge for the billionaire elite. That image is not easily reversed. The toxic stain of his reign is permanent.

Which will leave the US a wounded beast on the world stage, a former superpower desperately seeking some degree of respect, some indication that it stands for more than its military might. But it will search in vain. Any sense of integrity that it might once have had has been significantly weakened by the arrogant posturing of a man who should never have been allowed anywhere near the presidency.
