The Federal government is funding one thousand dollar accounts with Robin Hood Investments, for each child born between 2025 and 2028. These accounts to be locked until age of 18….hopefully to grow into a life long investment vehicle.

Could that possibly be a good thing.

This is another con. Some president in 18 years will have to pay this out of their budget.

In the meantime, Trump has cut funding for poor kids to boost shareholder profits.

A main controversy is that the accounts may be symbolic rather than transformative: critics say a $1,000 deposit locked until 18 does little for children facing poverty now.

Wealth gap concerns

Another criticism is that the program may disproportionately help families who already have the means to add contributions, which could widen existing wealth gaps instead of reducing them.

Policy trade-off

Critics also argue the accounts were created alongside cuts to programs like Medicaid and food assistance, so the government is promoting a long-term savings idea while reducing support for families’ immediate needs.

Political and ethical concerns

Some observers see the program as politically branded and worry it could be used to reward births during a specific administration rather than serving as a neutral public policy.

So far, all of Trump's other promises, like the $2000-dollar cheque to all families, have never materialised. This is another scheme, but I doubt many people will be interested in it.

Wow, in 18 years you kid gets $1000 dollars.

The US dollar will no longer be the reserve currency in 18 years, so the inflation will even cut into that.

Why not throw in a free McHappy Meal?

This is either a scam to get votes or a means for the rich to create a trust fund for their kids.

Things are not looking good in the midterms, so we can expect a whole host of scams to attempt to buy the next election.

Timeline for the $1,000 Investment

  1. January – April 2026: Parents and guardians enroll their children and "claim" the seed money by checking a box on IRS Form 4547 during tax filing season.
  2. U.S. Department of the Treasury (.gov) +1
  3. May 2026: The Treasury or its agent (BNY Mellon) begins sending out account activation information to those who made the election.
  4. Saving For College +1
  5. July 4, 2026: The program officially launches. At this point, the $1,000 Treasury deposit is made into the child's account and immediately invested in a default low-fee index fund (such as one tracking the S&P 500).
  6. U.S. Department of the Treasury (.gov) +3
  7. July 5, 2026 & Beyond: The account becomes fully operational, and families or employers can begin making their own additional contributions.
  8. Saving For College +1

…..

A typical interchange with the uninformed but vociferous TDS set. There, now you are better informed.

That also goes for your colleague who liked your mistake.

Without family contributions, the Trump Account receives only the initial $1,000 federal seed deposit, invested in a low-fee default index fund like an S&P 500 tracker.

Projected Growth

The funds grow tax-deferred until age 18, when the account converts to a traditional IRA under standard rules. At historical S&P 500 returns of ~10% annualized, the $1,000 could grow to $5,000-$6,000 nominally over 18 years.

Inflation Impact

Accounting for average U.S. inflation (~2-3% annually), real purchasing power drops significantly, to roughly $2,500-$3,500 in today's dollars. This assumes no contributions; markets could underperform, further eroding value against rising costs like housing or education

-----------

If families do invest in the program, that is no different than if they invested in a private investment fund.

For families that do not invest, it is peanuts. At best, 3000 dollars.

However, I suspect this is being used to rig the markets in some way, or for the Trump family to push their Crypto. There are bound to be more details of this program in time.

Also, I will believe it when I see it, that actual payments happen (to all within the birth rate criteria). This must be part of the latest grift.

Actually over the last 18 years the return in the S&P cited above as the investment vehicle, is $5500..

And if middle class parents can find $5000 per year.. invested for 18 years along with the $1000, tax free at 11% the rate for the last 18 years….the kid has a nest egg of $300,000….and a life lesson in saving and investing.

The federal part is a modest gift but also a well lit pathway to a better life. Will that make for a stronger society?

That is like saying you can lose weight by drinking 10 beers per day if you run 20 miles per day.

Anything the parents contribute is on their own doing. They could just as easily take on a private education fund for their children. I dont see it appealing to the Trump voters, because they are less likely to be able to make a contribution.

It is a measly sum of money - even if" it is paid out.

Actually it’s not only $1000, it’s the yearly gift of no taxes on gains or dividends in the portfolio. It’s an innovative way for the government to motivate people to do the right thing….flexible to the extent of their ability. And popular:

  1. Sign-up Numbers: Early reports in February indicated around 3 million children, growing to 4 million by early April and reaching 5 million by mid-April.

Not all of these fall in the seed money eligibility period….but for every one of those there are 3 others who sign up for the tax benefits. At least there are some parents out there who aren’t snowed by the TDS crowd,

The US does not guarantee health coverage for its citizens. Healthcare costs are unaffordable for millions, even after sweeping healthcare reforms substantially reduced the number of uninsured Americans.

U.S. health care is broken.

Complete balls, lets look at a specific:

Heart transplant wait times (shortest ? longest)

  1. ???? Spain — ~3–9 months
  2. ???? United States — ~4–12 months
  3. ???? Australia — ~6–12 months
  4. ???? United Kingdom — ~6–18 months
  5. ???? Canada — ~6–24 months
  6. ???? Germany — ~1–2 years
  7. ???? India — ~1–12+ months (very variable)
  8. ???? Japan — ~2–5+ years

Approximate ranking by post–heart-transplant survival, best to weaker:

  1. Japan — exceptionally high reported survival; recent review says >92% at 5 years and >89% at 10 years.
  2. United States — about 91–92% 1-year survival; ~80% 5-year adult survival.
  3. United Kingdom89% 1-year survival for first adult heart-only transplants, 2020–2024.
  4. Canada — broadly strong; Canadian Parliament summary says over 80% of heart recipients survive at least 5 years.
  5. Spain85.2% 1-year survival and 74.3% 5-year survival for recent cohorts.
  6. Australia — generally comparable in major centers, but harder to rank nationally from easily available data; one Queensland service review reported poor 2018–2022 outcomes, so I’d avoid placing Australia above the US/UK/Japan on the evidence I found.
  7. Germany / Eurotransplant countries — good advanced care, but public country-level survival comparisons are less cleanly available; probably broadly Western-European range rather than obviously poor.
  8. Brazil / lower-resource systems — some reported cohorts are materially lower; a global review cited Brazil 1-year survival around 71% for 2000–2015.

The big caveat: Japan looks best after transplant partly because selection is very strict and waiting times are long. A country can have excellent post-transplant survival while many patients die or deteriorate before receiving a heart.

…….

The US, second in terms of wait times and really the most successful in terms of outcomes because Japan is so selective.

That’s one example, we could go through other specific maladies. Life expectancy in general, often mentioned should correct for life style, demographics, distances and critically affordability, US drug companies sell their products at lower costs overseas.

The higher prices paid in the US funds research the whole world benefits from…6 of the 10 most critical life saving drugs invented since 1950 came from the US. And the medical research in US universities is there for free to the rest of the world in medical journals.

In medicine, as in defence the West owes the US

Of course, it is a good thing. For people who benefit from it. Which is not going to be the majority of people who are going to be taken it.

It is a very funny scheme.

Liberals have had many obsessions. One is to guarantee the return on investment. One favourite strategy from liberals is duplicity.

Liberals love to claim they act for a specific class of people (the downtrodden usually is the goal) when in fact the strategy is adverse to the downtrodden.

The strategy benefit is obvious: conceal the benefits for a certain segment of a population behind the needs of the desperate.

The goal of this Trump's initiative is to reach a point of too big to fail. People involved in this scheme are going to fight to maintain the return and the less money they are in, the more likely they are to fight for it as they need the money to live. Contrary to people who live on marginal money. Which are going to reap the benefits

Remember, peeps, liberalism stands on governing through the consent of the governed and people are going to concede their consent for many things to preserve the return of this fund.

And it is blatant: as usual, liberals put the emphasis on the poorest, everyone is granted an initial sum.

Now let's focus on people for whom this scheme is designed. Let's say people who can put one million dollars in the scheme from the start.

Straightforward to compute how much money the children get at 18, straightforward to compare it to what people earn in average during their life time. The result is that these children are given from the start more money than the average amount of money earned during a life time. This means that these people do not have to work their entire life.

Let's keep going on this: if these people marry among each other, each parent will bring half the initial million to boot.

And keeping on it; when the children come to age, parents can reclaim a certain sum from their children to pay themselves.

This scheme ensures that all that these people have to do is to reproduce themselves, have kids and place money in a guaranteed return funds, guaranteed because many of the so called benefactors will need the money to live in a very different way.

People who are going to fight for this scheme are not going to be people who benefit from it. People who will get 300 000 out of the scheme. Of course, people who will only get 8 000 may say eff with this but they will mean the wall of all the others who gain just enough to feel they win at life when they are losing big time..

.and a life lesson in saving and investing.

Certainly not in saving. As to investing, only for a very specific kind of investment: rent, that is an investment with a guaranteed return.

Remember, peeps, capitalism came up with the idea of risks: investing came with risks, people can win big as they can lose big. This was based on many factors, like insecure transportation means. Traders could lose a fortune as a ship got lost.

This scheme reflects nothing of risk. This scheme is made to ensure a rent as people involved in it will keep looking at guaranteeing the scheme return.

Kids who will inherit 100 000 from this scheme will already have fallen behind in life compared to kids who will inherit 300 000 from the scheme who will have fallen behind kids who inherit 1 million dollars and this up to the people who will inherit more than enough to live a life time without working and all they have to do is reproduce and marry among themselves.

And all this clique will fight to maintain the privilege of the guys at the top because they will need the money to live as they have to work. They will okay any decision to protect the return of the scheme.

It is a very good thing indeed as liberals are en route to kill hundreds of million people. And this kind of scheme is going to be part of the motivations for it.

It is very funny. But what team is it?

Liberals on this board seem to have no political education.

And second part, a lot of comments on South Africa were already done. Many of them. So that is another trait: when they demand things that are already given.

Many things ware already written on South Africa. So either liberals have not read and in this case, it is pointless to write them again or they have read them and expect other comments.

In both cases, there are no point in delivering what is already delivered.

On the other hand, contribution is expected here;

https://www.ruckersforum.com/forum/mikes-gripes/liberal-israel-and-human-shields/58840/

And contrary to the South Africa's case where many comments were already delivered, there has been no contribution.

Liberals are empty, they have nothing in store. So they can not answer as soon as questions are asked.

And it is the beauty of it. You will see again, no answer incoming. It is like pressing a button.

Very funny. Could do that all the day. And for free.
