Was thinking about this. And really, for me it mostly comes down to land. Land is there and someone lives on it. At some point a second party arrives and sees potential for personal gain from posession of the land. Today the only aceptable form of acquiring land is through purchase and I guess in some hippie cases barter. Though, this was not always the case. It only became so relatively recently in human history. Prior to this land was mainly aquired through violence or the threat thereof. Obviously, once the land is acquired, the original inhabitants do not always have to vacate the land and so stay on as tenants of sorts. And in other instances they are all vacated, killed and everything in between. What I think I need to understand is exactly when the cut off point was in history for legally being able to aquire land by force and for that land right to be valid currently. So, I guess we can take current examples like the US and then say that great if you "stole" land prior to 1650'ish then cool, nobody can claim it back. Continue from that and work your way to the most recent similar case and draw the line there. I just don't know exactly where in history this moral line was drawn. The more I think about this the more I am drawn to the idea that "Morality is the weapon of the weak". As far as I know, apartheid is the only crime I know of where generations that follow the generation of the criminals are punished. And those to be punished are singled out on the basis of their race. It seems absurd to me. Yes i do understand that when all the original inhabitants are killed it becomes an irrelevant argument.

PS maybe Basque will like this one ;) A Catalonian walks into a bar and orders a beer in Catalan. The barman brings the beer and requests €2.95 from the Catalan, but does so in Spanish. The Catalonian gives him a dirty look and drops €3.00 on the counter. The barman puts the money in the till and continues chatting to the next customer. The Catalan interrupts the barman's conversation and tells him, again in Catalan, that he has forgotten his change. The barman blankly looks the Catalan up and down. The Catalan repeats himself again...in Catalonian. The barman does not budge. Finally the Catalonian requests his change one more time, this time in Spanish. The barman flips him the €0.05 and says..."I knew for five cents I could make you speak Spanish"

Nobody would ever argue about what positive there was in Apartheid.  It was a terrible system that caters for the wealthy and drew along the rest of the Whites - 80% of whom were middle class or poor on the basis of the dangers of a Back Government.
However, there is an under-current in the Black community who are saying they were better off under the previous Government - King Goodwill Zwelethini of the Zulus said it recently - and a tribal chief in the Limpopo Province burnt his ANC T-shirt in public and made the same remark.  The older residents in places like Soweto indicated the same during surveys.
That is why so many Blacks and other voters are turning away from the ANC - whom they blame for poor governance and looting of resources.   They still have a hold of the voters in rural areas who are desperately needing the Government allowances paid to them - the ANC use that by calling it "ANC - money".
The fact is that services in SA in most provinces - with the exception of the Western Cape have crumbled and in return the genera population gets a near to zero return for their tax money.   It may not be the intention of the ANC - but the looting of  State Resources by them and by the lower levels of administration is causing havoc in communities all over the country, because of deficient service delivery.
According to one Minister who remarked that they all have skeletons in their cupboards and cannot expose those of others without exposing themselves, is a real  indictment  of what really is going on.
The real problem raised its head under Mbeki - when looting was not on the top level of Government, but lower down.  The present scenario is the top positions in government is now occupied by the chief looters - who are stealing everything they can lay their hands on.   Money is totally misspent - like a R4 billion presidential airplane.  With that many the government can provide decent services and homes for more than 40 000 households - but it is not done because the ruling elite is more interested in their own luxurious living than in the general population.  The country has 74 Ministers and Deputy Ministers costing circa R6 billion a year.  If that is reduced by 60% the country can still be government more efficiently than at present.  Yet - the Ministers and Deputy Ministers do the least possible and their only real interest is to protect their loot.
If the loot is eliminated the country will survive - if not - we are all goin g down.

Easy call to make Denny....but it is equally sad to see these racist pigs destroying SA at present.
The powers that be have their own personal agendas where the good of mankind does not feature at all.
How on earth can you begin to justify a quota system 22 years after freedom for all.

Yes, it's pathetic. I know I'll never attend another RWC, I kinda made up my mind that morning in Newcastle prior to the pool game against Scotland. Just like Kallis,  I am embarrassed. Also, it's not about winning any longer, it's about numbers. BTW I bumped into HM in the elevator of the hotel we were staying in, if you had met the man you would have deep regrets about many of the things you've said about him. Newcastle is a lovely town, quite enjoyable, so is London. We were very lucky that inadvertently we stayed at the same hotel as the Boks and again inadvertently boarded the same plane as the Wallabies on the way back home. You couldn't have wished it any better. I have shots posing with your man PSDT, Jesse Kriel and a host of others....I sense your envy

My takes on Meyer were never against him personally as one can sense he is a good man who's greatest asset was his passion for his side.
He was just an average coach, out of his depth, stuck in a time warp in terms of tactics and choice of players......he sold us short as a coach but not as a supporter.
I'd say send me your pics but I'd probably end up using them against you when the heat gets turned up - joking!!

"Their argument would typically start with an "There were some mistakes under Apartheid"....some???...not sure if that's suppose to be funny but like you say "basic human rights were infringed and deprived" and again with "policy was rotten to the core." If not meant to be funny then it clearly displays their total ignorance of .................."

The Shocking Truth About Racism

How Can We Believe You Mr President

The Shocking Truth About Racism by Juju Mkize a Top Black Academic At the University Of Cape Town

“South Africans are psychologically sick as a result of violence

inflicted upon the majority of the country’s people

during the apartheid era”, President Jacob Zuma

This lie is getting really old!

The history of black South Africans has always been that of violence, death and destruction – NOT inflicted upon them by white people in this country. Shaka Zulu, during his 10-year reign butchered more than 2 million black people in South Africa, not counting the deaths during mass tribal migrations to escape his armies. He had his warriors clubbed to death upon the merest sign of weakness. He neither took a legal wife nor fathered a son, for fear that his heir would plot against him, and had his concubines executed if he discovered they were pregnant. When his mother died, he massacred thousands of his subjects so their families would mourn along with him. Shaka retained his throne through the worst kind of sheer terror, vast mass executions, torture and mindless butchery. His brother, Dingane, was no better. He took power after the assassination of Shaka and started his reign by butchering those loyal to Shaka. That, amongst many other horror stories of black-on-black violence, is the history of Black South Africa.

During the Apartheid years it was not better. Factional fighting and tribal conflict was again the main cause of violence and death amongst black South Africans. During the Apartheid era, from 1948 to 1994, the average life expectancy of black South Africans had risen to 64 years, on par with Europe’s average life expectancy. Infant death rates had by been reduced from 174 to 55 infant deaths per thousand, higher than Europe’s, but considerably lower than the rest of the African continent’s. The African population in South Africa increased by 50%.

Deaths due to political violence during apartheid: 21 000 people died in political violence in South Africa during apartheid of whom 14 000 died during the transition process from 1990 to 1994. This includes SA Defence Force actions, for instance the 600 deaths at Kassinga in Angola during the war in 1978. Of those deaths, the vast majority, 92%, have been primarily due to Africans killing Africans, such as the inter-tribal battles for territory. During the period June 1990 to July 1993 a total of 8580 (92%) of the 9 325 violent deaths during the period June 1990 to July 1993 were caused by Africans killing Africans, or as the news media often calls it, “Black on Black” violence – hostel killings, Inkatha Freedom Party versus ANC killings and taxi and turf war violence.

The security forces caused 518 deaths (5.6%) throughout this period. During the transitional period, the primary causes of deaths were not security forces nor white right-wing violence against blacks, but due to “black-on-black necklace murders”, tribal conflict between the ANC-IFP, bombs by the ANC and PAC’s military wings in shopping centers, landmines on farm roads, etc.

In this country TODAY (under black rule) as many as 18 000 people are murdered EVERY year. …and those are the official statistics. More than 400 000 people have been murdered in South Africa under ANC rule.

The past 20 years have been the most violent in the history of this country since the death of Shaka Zulu…and NONE of it has anything to do with WHITE people or APARTHEID… but I guess if you repeat the lie often enough foreigners actually start believing the drivel coming from your mouth, Mr. Uneducated President !!!”

Unfortunately people from all over the world believe the lies you have spread and wrongly blame the Whites for Racism!!

"Do you consume? I mean do you eat and breathe? Do you use a computer? Everyone consumes- even you. Replying to you is a consumption of my time."

Everybody consumes.

Not everyone is an excellent man though. Implying otherwise cheapens the excellent men's achievements.

An excellent man's achievements are simple not acts of consumption, they are acts of consumption that ensure the quickest path to depletion of resources.

Everyone consumes. The guys before the excellent men in SA consumed. Did they manage to bring SA actual situation in terms of resources? Of course not.

Actually, you could have let them work their consumption art for one thousand years they would not have managed to match the excellent men's  consumption achievements that occurred in 50 years.

Want to deplete an area of its resources? Dont call a mere consumer. Trust an excellent man. Job will be done as fast as it can be.
